The scourging of Jesus at the pillar
A servant girl said, "This man was with him." Peter denied it. "Woman, I don't know him," he said. The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.

WAY (moral teaching, ascetic):

[cf Isaiah 66:2] This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.
